Mobile

iOS and Android apps. One codebase, two stores.

We build native apps with React Native and Expo. Managed publishing, push notifications, analytics and OTA delivery to iterate without waiting for Apple.

Mobile apps are a different category from web development: publishing cycles are longer, stores impose strict rules, hardware dictates what is possible, and users have much higher fluidity expectations than on the web. This is not web development, it is mobile development — and must be treated as such.

We use React Native + Expo as our primary stack. It is the combination that gives the best balance between development speed, visual quality and maintainability in 2025. Apps like Shopify, Discord, Coinbase and Microsoft Teams are built with React Native: the technology is proven at large-scale production.

What makes a Pixel Labs app different

Three things we rarely see done well in apps built by generalist agencies:

  1. Real OTA updates — we use EAS Update so we can fix bugs or change copy without waiting for Apple review. A critical bug can be patched in 20 minutes.
  2. Product analytics from day one — PostHog or Amplitude integrated. We do not go blind after launch: we measure activation, retention and real funnels.
  3. Optimised ASO — keywords researched with professional tools, screenshots designed for conversion, copywriter-written description. That is what separates an app that gets downloaded from one that does not.

What we build

Mobile extension of your SaaS or service: catalogue, order, booking, support, loyalty.

Internal apps

Field-team tools: inventory, reports, data capture, digital signatures.

Content apps

Magazines, podcasts, courses or libraries with offline consumption and in-app subscriptions.

Loyalty apps

Point programs, coupons, geo-targeted offers and wallet (Apple Wallet / Google Pay).

IoT extensions

Apps that connect to Bluetooth/BLE devices, configurators, manufacturer apps.

Redesigns

Modernisation of older Swift/Kotlin apps to a maintainable React Native base.

Frequently asked questions

React Native or native Swift/Kotlin?
For 90% of projects we see, React Native with Expo is the right call: one codebase, near-native visual quality, 40–60% less cost. We only recommend pure native when the app needs very deep system API integration (advanced camera, AR, very specific background execution).
How much does a mobile app cost?
A minimum viable app starts around €18,000. Apps with full functionality, own backend, subscriptions and several complex screens sit between €35,000 and €80,000. We always give a fixed quote after understanding scope.
Who manages the developer accounts?
You create them under your name (Apple Developer: $99/year, Google Play: $25 one-off) and grant us team access. Control and ownership stay 100% yours.
Can you update the app without going through Apple?
For JavaScript or content changes, yes — using EAS Update. For native code changes we need a new build submission. Apple review usually takes 24 to 48 hours.
What about in-app subscriptions?
We handle them with RevenueCat, which abstracts StoreKit (iOS) and Google Billing (Android) in a single API. Gives you churn, renewal and upgrade analytics and price A/B testing.
How do you handle store publishing?
Included in the price: ASO-optimised listing, localised screenshots, preview video, multi-language description and first-review management. If Apple rejects, we iterate until approval at no extra cost.
